Q&A

  • IS THIS PROGRAM AFFORDABLE? When compared to an off-campus trip to see a live theatrical presentation, to the zoo or the cost to bring in adjunct staff for a specialized learning activity YES! In fact, it is often more cost effective.  Additionally, your do not have to leave the safety of your campus.

  • WHAT MAKES THIS ASSEMBLY PROGRAM DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS?   This a full-day inclusive program. Our stage show is comparable to any touring professional theatre production.  We bring a semi truck of equipment and cast and crew five to make it all happen. The animals in our program are not generally seen in school programs.

  • WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE FULL DAY PROGRAM?  The full day program includes up to two presentations of the stage show production Elysian, in addition to four afternoon breakout sessions.

  • HOW MANY STUDENTS CAN ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE?  Our program is designed for the entire campus to be able to participate. By offering up to two performance we are almost always able to seat all the students. The afternoon break-out class sessions are normally presented by grade level, combining two grade levels or more, if needed so all students can participate.

  • DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE AND PERMITS?  Yes! We have a $2 million insurance policy which you can be listed as additionally insured. All the animals in our program are federally licensed, permitted and regularly inspected by United States Department of Agriculture-Animal  Plant Health Inspection Service.

  • HOW MUCH SPACE IS REQUIRED?  DO WE HAVE ENOUGH SPACE ON OUR CAMPUS FOR THIS PROGRAM?  Our production is a large show, but it has also been designed for the school market. The stage area requires a space with a minimum width of 40 ft, minimum depth of 30 ft and minimum height of 14 ft. We often find facilities that do not have this large of a stage which does not present a problem. In this situation we often set-up in reverse, setting the performance up on the floor and using the stage area as “balcony seating“ for students. The afternoon class sessions are very flexible, requiring space for the students to be seated and move around the room comfortably and safely. We find the library or similar type of room is the perfect setting for the afternoon portion of our program.  It helps to set the right environment and expectations which contrasts from the morning program.

  • HOW DO YOU HELP US PREPARE TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL DAY?  Each stop on our tour schedule is assigned a resource coordinator from our staff. This individual will be available to you by text, email and phone. Our resource coordinators are members of our touring cast not someone sitting in an office reading from prompts. You will have direct connection with a member of our staff who travels with us and performs the show daily or presents classroom content.  This individual will be on site the day of your program and be your liaison to our staff. They have direct experience on how to make your day run smoothly.  Additionally, you will receive a complete comprehensive guide and plan for preparing for the program.

  • WHAT ADDITIONAL SERVICE ARE REQUIRED FROM THE SCHOOL?  We do not require a lot of additional resources from your school. There are a few items that help us keep the cost well below 50% of actual production cost. We will need six adult volunteers to help unload the trucks and assist with setting up the show and then assist after the show with the load out. No special skill is required, just a willingness to help make your event amazing. We will also need the assistance of your district maintenance electrician to help with power for the show. If you are not able or choose to have us completely staff the show we are able to provide that service as well, but it substantially increases the cost of the program.

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE TRAVEL WITH THE PROGRAM?  We travel with a cast and crew of 4 to 5 people. The cast of Elysian has three human performers in addition to our animal cast and backstage staff.

  • HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO OFFER A PROGRAM OF THIS SIZE AT THIS PRICE?  By using our years of touring experience and operating efficiently and with the additional resources provided by you. We rely on the same state of the art technology and equipment as any traveling professional theater production which streamlines our ability to tour.  Enabling us to bring this experience to your campuses for less than 50% of traditional cost.

  • WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DOES YOUR STAFF HAVE?  All our cast and crew are hired because of their passion and strong drive to share and educate. Each employee has been selected because of their past leadership and skills in their area of expertise. All our tour staff and performers have a secondary degree or certification in their area of operation. All our employees have had full background checks which are provided as part of our pre-arrival to your school. All tour employees while on campus always have official photo identification visible and available. (unless physically performing on stage)

  • DO YOU OFFER GRANTS OR DISCOUNTS?  We do not directly offer grants but are happy to assist in any way we can. We do offer discount bookings on district wide multi-date bookings.
